Ann Dunaway Gamblin, 90, of Cara Vita Village in Montgomery, passed away on May 5, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was born August 24, 1929.

Due to the constraints brought about by the current coronavirus outbreak, a private funeral service will be held.

She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Barry) Holmes and Carol (John) Lanier; grandchildren, Christy Griffith (David) Tennant, Clint (Kelly) Griffith, Hilary Holmes (Matt) McKinney, Carrie Lanier (Jeff) Burnett, Melinda Lanier (Mike) Crouch and Joshua (Emi) Lanier; and fifteen great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Roy Gamblin.

She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She taught school in many towns during the ministry she shared with her husband Roy. She used her musical talent to bless people throughout her life. She loved Jesus and wanted people to know Him. She will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the following ministries: which is a ministry in Ecuador that works with former street boys and girls that have been rescued out of sex trade or other vulnerable situations. Check the support box for Casa Gabriel or Casa Adalia. This is the ministry of the son of their life-long friends, Bill and Ilene Douce.

Mrs. Gamblin was my grandmother’s neighbor. In the few short months we knew her she brought so much love and comfort to our own mourning family. She carried joy and laughter in all she did. It was such a treat to hear her playing the piano. I am so thankful for the time the Lord gave us with her. She was easy to love and truly blessed us. We will miss her dearly.

Roy and Ann were living in Clayton, AL, where Roy served Clayton UMC when I was a young pastor serving the Midway Circuit near Clayton. Roy and Ann were very kind to my wife and me, inviting us to their parsonage for dinner on numerous occasions. I am saddened to learn of Ann's death.

Cheryl, Carol, and to all the family -
O God, receive Ann into the arms of your mercy, into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light. May her soul and the souls of all departed, rest in peace through the mercy of God.
