He was a member of Oak Valley Station United Methodist Church and attended First United Methodist Church of Tallassee. His hobbies were gardening, yard work, singing and playing the guitar, reading, fishing, and hunting in his younger years. He enjoyed any activity involving his grandchildren. With so many things to say about such a great man, we want to say “we will miss you” and “looka here! looka here!”

He is survived by his daughters, Phyllis Gleason (Mike), Sherry Thrash (Claude) and Delaine Brown; sons, Chris Thornton, Mark Thornton (Barbara) and Jim Thornton (Kim); daughter-in-law, Sue Huey; 50 grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Sylvia Coats and a large loving extended family.
