I cannot remember High School without Reba appearing prominently in those memories. For about 4 years, we lived 3 blocks apart. We walked to each other's homes several times a week. If school were in session and the weather was nice, we would often meet between our houses, at The First Baptist Church, and walk on to school together. Sometimes she would call me and ask, "Want to go walking?", which actually meant, "want to go TALKING"? We would grab a bottled Coke from the Service Station across from her house, and tour the sights that were already familiar to us. Oh, the world problems we solved! When we spent nights together, we'd usually make boxed Chef BOYARDEE pizzas--another opportunity to laugh and laugh. She was my friend.
Reba was fun. Reba was popular. She was liked or loved by everyone in our Class. It would've been easy for her to have been snobbish. (She was the only one of my friends who got a new car when she got her driver's license.) But, snobbery was not in her nature. Reba was friendly and kind to everyone.
Mike, Jenny, and Melissa, I took this opportunity to share some of my memories, so you could count me among those who know that your Great Wife, and Great Mother was always SPECIAL! I'm sure you're Grateful to the Creator for making her that way. May your faith, your love, and your sweet memories of Reba, help you through this extremely sad time. Much love to you all.
