Vivian Hall Waites left this world on July 10, 2020. She was born on December 14, 1933 in Elmore County. In 1961, Vivian married John Ervin Waites and together they raised their son, Byron, and their daughter, Teresa.

Vivian was known for her love of all things Elvis and also known far and wide for her joy of having and going to yard sales. She enjoyed coin collecting, volunteering for voting polls and sending cards. She enjoyed taking pictures and she always wanted to take “just one more.” She enjoyed Sunday dinners, trips to Florida and to baseball games. When going to doctor visits, she would always introduce Teresa as Mama T and herself as the child, Teresa. Levi remembers her saying “go to the tree and pick a switch and if it ain’t a good one, I’m gonna pick it for you.” She enjoyed writing poetry and drawing from an early age and in her late 70’s, she self-published a book of her works entitled “A Collection of Works by Vivian Hall Waites.” But the true joy of life for Vivian was the love she had for her family. She would often say, “always remember, it’s not goodbye – it’s see ya later and I love you the mostest…ha ha, I beat you!”

Vivian is preceded in death by her husband, John Ervin Waites, her parents, Lucius and Montez Norrell Hall and father-in-law, George “PaPa” Waites. She also is preceded in death by her two sisters, Lois Mulder and Nadine Towery, as well as her best friend, “Kat” Rushin and another very dear friend, Ruth Fulmer.

Vivian leaves a legacy of love with her children, Byron Jackson (Pat) and Teresa Brown (Teddy); her grandchildren, Levi Collins (Brittany), Christopher Brown (Audrey), Hunter Collins (Michelle), and Otto Collins (Katy); great grandchildren, Kolten, Kinsley, Khloe, Christopher, Ethan, Hunter, Allie and Avery; and a loving extended family. She also leaves behind two good friends, Gloria and Nancy, as well as some special nieces, nephews, cousins and so many friends.

Visitation will be held at Linville Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 15 from 5 to 7 pm. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 16, at 2 pm, at Linville Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Matt Mobley officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Linville Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory directing.

Vivian has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude’s Hospital in her memory, or to her church since childhood, Liberty Baptist Church, 574 Liberty Rd, Tallassee, AL 36078

We sure are sorry to hear our sweet Vivian has passed away. She was such a special and talented lady!! She always sent us a Christmas card each year and would come by and visit when she was still able to drive. She brought us a copy of her book and it was awesome. Byron and Teresa, our prayers are with you both and your families. God bless you all!

It's hard to imagine a world without Vivian who was so loving and kind. She and John Ervin made many visits to our home over the years and my Mother, Larry Lee, relished their time together. They always brought a peacefulness with them and I imagine they carried that feeling everywhere they went. I am happy to think of them back together. Love to all OUR family. Ray ( and Janet) Waites
