Barry Brewer, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and faithful friend, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and faith. Born and raised in Tallassee, Alabama, Barry graduated from Tallassee High School in 1975. He went on to earn his degree from the Auburn University School of Pharmacy in 1979, then later received his MBA from Auburn University at Montgomery, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to learning and professional excellence. Barry’s career in pharmacy and healthcare spanned more than four decades. He began as the owner and pharmacist of Plant Drugstore in 1980, then served the Tallassee Hospital as pharmacist and in administration from 1981 to 1999. His dedication to helping others continued at the Walmart pharmacy in Troy, then at CPSI, a healthcare IT company, for eight years. He concluded his career serving the communities of Wetumpka and Millbrook as a pharmacist with Walgreens.
Barry met the love of his life, Carla, when they were just 13 years old in the eighth grade. The two were inseparable for nearly 55 years. They were soulmates, and their marriage was a shining example of enduring love and partnership. March 2026 would have marked their 50th wedding anniversary. In addition to his wife, Carla Brewer, he also leaves behind his children, Deanna Leigh (Christopher) Acreman and Vance Alan (Miranda) Brewer; sisters, Holly (Rick) Butler and Leah Johnson; and grandchildren, Autumn (Austin) Acreman Mann, Tyler Acreman, Chloe Acreman, Joash Brewer, Katie Grace Brewer, Oliver Brewer and Elliott Brewer.
Barry found great joy in the simple pleasures of life—gardening, teaching Sunday school at Tallassee Holiness Church, doting on his beloved dogs Lucy and Mimi, and spending time with his family, whom he loved deeply. He especially treasured family vacations, often to Fort Walton Beach, creating lasting memories filled with laughter, love, and togetherness. He had a heart for helping others and traveled to various churches to preach when he felt the Lord directing him to do so.
A man of deep faith, Barry was known for his kind heart, warm spirit, and unwavering devotion to both his church and his family. He was immensely proud of his loved ones and took great joy in their accomplishments and presence in his life. Barry’s life was a testimony to love, faith, and service. He will be missed beyond measure by all who knew and loved him
