Charles Reed

Mr. Charles Reed, 83, of Tallassee, passed away June 27, 2018. He was born February 14, 1935.

Funeral service will be Monday, July 2, at 11 am at First United Methodist Church, where he was a faithful member, with Rev. Dric Williford officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery, Linville Memorial Funeral Home directing. Maxwell Air Force Base Honor Guard will render full military honors and will act as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Monday from 9 am until service time at the church.

Charles honorably served our country in the United States Air Force and retired as MSgt in 1973 after 20 years service. Then he worked for and retired from Alabama Gas Corporation in 1987. In his later years, he was an avid reader and loved suspense and murder mysteries. He enjoyed going out to eat with his friends.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Dolores Reed; son, Salvador Y. Rodas (Sarah Ellen); daughters, Deborah Ann Norsworthy, Donna Kay Stewart, Beverly Jo Cox (Kenneth), Brenda Lee Smith, Maria E. Hopper (David) and Carmen L. Kinder (Randy); sister, Martha Thornell; twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Ann Reed and one great grandchild.
