Christopher (Chris) Wayne Hammonds

Christopher (Chris) Wayne Hammonds, 56, of Rowlett, TX, passed away on May 6, 2023. Chris was born September 18, 1966 to Wayne and Carol Hammonds of Tallassee, AL. Chris attended and graduated from Reeltown High School in 1984 and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Building Science from Auburn University in 1988. He spent most of his career as a commercial construction estimator which carried him all over the southeast, and briefly to Kuwait. This career that he loved had him in the Dallas, TX area for the past 6 years.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Lois Carol (Roye) Hammonds and his sister, Alicia Hammonds. He is survived by his father, Luther Wayne Hammonds; brother, Richard Hammonds (Natalie); nieces, Sage Flurry (Cole) and Jillian Hornsby; great-nephew, Kace Flurry; and many other aunts, uncles and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Memorial for Chris from 12:30 to 2:30 pm (central time) on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Elam Baptist Church, 4686 Notasulga Road, Tallassee, AL in the fellowship hall. All are invited to gather, eat, fellowship, and reminisce on Chris’ adventurous life. This will be a non-traditional ‘visitation’, and all are welcome to come and eat with the family, visit, fellowship with each other, share stories and relive memories. At 2:45 pm there will be a short graveside ceremony with Rev. Jay Woodall officiating.

There will also be a memorial service held at 2:00 pm (central time) on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at ‘his happy place’, Wanda’s Studio located at 9400 Lakeview Parkway, Ste. 113, Rowlett, TX. Friends in the Rowlett, TX area are invited to attend.
