Corinne Elizabeth Shuttleworth Adams born August 25, 1931 to Albert Edward Shuttleworth and Anna Lundgren Shuttleworth passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 12, 2022.
Mom led an adventurous life. Raising five children on her own as she was a woman ahead of her time. She had no fear taking on new challenges and learning how to build or make anything unless it was food. Her claim to fame later in life was “I don’t cook and I don’t dust.” She loved nothing more than having her family around her telling stories and laughing about the kids living at home times, dinner times, camping times, emergency room times and getting yearly shots times. She was a talented artist that gifted her art to many friends and family. If you gave her a picture of your favorite place, she would paint it and gift it to you. She had her paintings of a Native Indiana Chief and Squaw hang in a museum. She had numerous years with Pete, the love of her life, on her beloved Lake Martin for which she enjoyed swimming with Daisy and Marge every afternoon and driving her pontoon to Chimney Rock with family and friends and daily afternoons napping in her hammock after reading a good romance novel. After moving to Easehouse she made countless friends and again enjoyed afternoons chatting with girlfriends in the courtyard. We will always be grateful for those 10 years she lived there and all the staff that kept her engaged and independent.
She will be missed by her five children, Wendi Turner, Bob Steele (Rosie), Melissa Woods (Stan), Paul Gilbreath (Shelia) and Eric Gilbreath (Celeste); sister, Donna Brown; ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, Pete Adams; parents, Chuck and Anne Shuttleworth; sisters, June Busic and Vicki Johnson and grandson, Tristan Arnold.
Special thanks to Paul and Shelia for the compassionate and loving care they gave Mom toward the end of her life and Compassus Hospice Home Health for the comfort care of our mother. We are forever grateful. We will carry our mother in our hearts forever.
