Danny Daniel Hopper

Danny Daniel Hopper of Eclectic passed away at the age of 76 on Thursday, October 26, 2023. He was born on October 22, 1947.

He served as a Staff Seargent in the United States Army with the Howitzer Battery 1st Squadron 11th Armored Calvary Regiment during the Vietnam War. He was awarded many medals including the Bronze Star Medal for heroism in ground combat. He was a long-term employee of Winn-Dixie as a butcher, and he was an avid fan of NASCAR racing and Alabama football.

Graveside service will be Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 2 pm in Claud Independent Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John L Goodman Jr., Tony Thomas, Steve Goodman, John Goodman, Tyler Hooper, Daniel Armstrong, and Micah Strausbaugh. Rev. John Garrett will be officiating.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Evelyn Hopper; children, Jeanine (Wayne) Pitchford and Paige (Bill) Armstrong; grandchildren, Laken (Tyler) Hooper, Daniel Armstrong, Loren Pitchford, Renee (Micah) Strausbaugh, and Lori Armstrong; great-grandchildren Miller Hooper and Michael Hooper.

He is preceded in death by his parents, McDaniel Harding Hopper and Grace Hopper Perkins and daughter, Shannon Hopper.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be memorial contributions in his memory to Salem Road Baptist Church (PO Box 240445 Eclectic, AL 36024).
