Donald Rennyard Hilyer

Mr. Donald Rennyard Hilyer, 78, of Tallassee (Red Hill), passed away Monday, November 23, 2015. He was born May 16, 1937.

Funeral services will be Friday, November 27, 2015, at 2:00 pm, at Refuge Baptist Church with Brother Steve Scarborough officiating. The family will receive friends at Refuge from 12:30 to 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Refuge Cemetery, Linville Memorial Funeral Home directing.

Don is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eloise Hilyer; son, Donnie Hilyer; daughter, Paula Hilyer Rees (David); brothers, James E. Hilyer (Jan) and Billy Hilyer (Kay); sisters, Dale Hilyer and Alice Beam (Joe); five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, including those like family, Ronald Joe Hall (Elaine) and Harold Dunson (Patty).

He is preceded in death by his mother, Lois Wall Hilyer; father, Lucien Hilyer; great granddaughter, Addison Hilyer; brother, Harold Dean Hilyer; and brother-in-law, Houston Jones.

Don was a member of Refuge Baptist Church, and previously served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and member of various committees. Don was a graduate of Massey Draughon Business School; member of Alabama Student Financial Aid Association (ASFAA); and Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators. Flowers accepted or donations may be made to Refuge Baptist Church, Building Fund. Don will be greatly missed but never forgotten by his family and by those whose lives he touched.
