Duane Phillips Clayton

Duane Phillips Clayton, 86, of Tallassee, passed away December 27, 2025. She was born April 7, 1939.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Jesse Clayton; sons, Sst David L. Clayton and Glen M. Clayton; parents, Henry Lee and Christine Phillips; and sisters, Shirley Vice and Gloria Cantrell.

She is survived by her daughter, Gail Melton; granddaughters, Jessica Denise McConnell (David) and Heather Young (Drew); grandsons, Jared Clayton (Layla), Phillip Melton, William Shawn Melton, Josh Clayton (Melissa), Brett Clayton and Brandon Clayton; ten great-granddaughters; three great-grandsons; five great-great-granddaughters; four great-great-grandsons and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 11 am followed by the funeral service at 12 pm on Monday, January 5, 2026 at Linville Memorial Funeral Home. Elder Joey Miller will officiate and burial will follow in Elam Cemetery.

She was  a volunteer with Tallassee Rescue Squad and she enjoyed crocheting and quilting. The family extends thanks to the workers, especially Jared, at Enhabit Hospice for all of their compassionate care.
