Emma Pearl Stewart

Emma Pearl Neighbors Lazenby Stewart, 96, of Tallassee, passed away November 7, 2022. She was born April 6, 1926.

Visitation will begin at 9 am, Friday, November 11, 2022 at Westside Independent Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 10 am, burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Jackson Neighbors and Rosetta Coker Neighbors. She was married to Lavone Lazenby for 53 years. After he passed, she married Jessie Stewart and they were married for 12 years when he preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by son, Jimmy Lazenby; son-in-law, Phillip Day; daughter-in-law, Kathy Lazenby; stepson, Jessie Stewart; stepdaughter, Pat Stewart; and grandsons, Tommy Day and Michael Coggins.

She is survived by her children, Marie Day, Andrew Lazenby (Linda Raper), Betty Comstock (Bruce) and Richard Lazenby (DeLaine); daughter-in-law, Opel Hall); and sister, Myrtice Varner.

She was the mother of 5 childen, 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 42 great-great-grandchildren, 20 great-great-great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-great-great grandchildren. She is the head of 6 generations.

Mrs. Stewart worked on a farm while growing up and after she married, she remained a farmer’s wife. She worked in a sewing plant for 28 years and was always ready to go somewhere. She was devoted to her family and will be deeply missed.
