Howard Lamar Godwin

Howard Lamar Godwin, age 77, of Notasulga, Alabama, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2026, surrounded by family and friends.

Born on April 18, 1949 in Tallassee, Alabama, to LM Godwin and Wallace Godwin, Lamar Godwin lived a life dedicated to family, friends, his community, Alabama football and his faithful dog "Buddy." He attended Troy University in 1967-1970, and went on to be dedicated in serving the Tallassee community as the beloved florist of Godwin's Flowers.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Deborah Godwin; his children, Jana Gurtler (husband Josh Gurtler) and Brad Godwin; and three cherished grandchildren, Tristan, McKenna and Landon.

A memorial of Lamar Godwin's life will be held and open to the public at Linville Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, October 15, 2026 with a 9 a.m. visitation, and 10 a.m. memorial service. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery for family only.
