James Marvin "Jim" Atkins

Mr. James “Jim” Atkins, 62, of Tallassee, passed away June 14, 2019. He was born February 22, 1957.

Funeral service will be Sunday, June 16, at 2:30 pm, at Westside Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Dorley officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery, Linville Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory directing. Visitation will be at the church prior to the service, starting at 1:30 pm.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Londa Atkins; children, J. C. (Shannon) Atkins, Jamie (Donnie) Lassiter and Laci Baker; grandchildren, Garrett Atkins, Brianna Lassiter, Joni Lassiter and Elijah Baker; parents, Billy (Val) Atkins and Arie Taunton; siblings, Joe (Brenda) Atkins, Jon (Penny) Atkins, Jan (Jamie) Smith, C. J. (Leah) Atkins, and Daniel (Danielle) Atkins and a loving, extended family.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Clyde (Irene) Atkins and Marvin (Rosa) Harrington and stepfather, Johnny Taunton.

Mr. Atkins was a U. S. Marine Corps and Air National Guard veteran and attended Westside Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming, traveling to the mountains every October and fishing with J. C. and his buddy, Jerry. He was extremely loyal to God, his family and friends. He was a man of few words, but the words spoken were of wisdom and with meaning.
