Jerry Carmen Golden, 86, of Tallassee, passed away on September 5, 2024. He was born on December 27, 1937, and lived in Tallassee throughout his lifetime. He attended Tallassee High School, attended Clemson University on a football scholarship, and later graduated from Troy State University.
He worked for the United States Postal Service for 35 years, serving as a mail carrier, mail clerk, and Postmaster until 1997, and received many awards during his service. After retiring from the post office, he enjoyed working as a bus driver for Tallassee Schools. Seeing the little children daily brought him so much joy. He was also an avid golfer. He and his special friend, Lamar Godwin, shared an intense passion for Alabama football. He and his wife enjoyed spending time with Jerrie Christian, the widow of his best friend, Ed. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dallas Golden and Bernice Golden; brother, Dean Golden; granddaughter, Mandy Emfinger; and life-long best friend, Ed Christian.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 32 years, Emma J. Golden; daughters, Cindy Golden, Wendy Ricci (John), and Gail Miceli (Philippe); bonus son, Tracey Henderson; brother, Buddy Golden; sister, Jane Waites; 7 grandchildren, Meghan Bonifay, Lindsey Boozer, Kaylyn Badders, Jessi Miceli, Jodie Miceli, Rachel Crawford and bonus grandson Cory Ricci, and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
