Jesse Manarl Griffith

Mr. Jesse M. Griffith, 84, of Tallassee, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015. He was born February 9, 1931.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 12:30 pm until funeral service time at 2:30 pm at Refuge Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Scarborough officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery, Linville Memorial Funeral Home directing.

He is survived by wife of 64 years, Jinnene Griffith; sons, Stanley Griffith (Vickie) and Craig Griffith (Cathy); daughter, Jeanne Shirley (Tim); sister, Maxine Casaday (Ferrell); grandchildren, Ben Griffith (Hollie), Vanessa Berry (Matt), Todd Griffith, Douglas Griffith (Rachel), Jeffrey Griffith (Amber), Morgan Glass (Jade), Lauren Funderburk (Dustin), and Brandon Shirley (Kayla); and great grandchildren, Isabella Griffith, Riley-Claire Funderburk, Colton Griffith, Kohen Howe and Jonah Howe. He is preceded in death by his parents, Abb and Ruby Griffith.

Mr. Griffith served in the U. S. Army Signal Corps during the Korean Conflict in the front line for nine months. He retired from GTE after 37 years of service. He started with the Tallassee Utility Company in August 1955 when the company had 600 customers.
