Joel Long

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joel Long, loving husband, wonderful brother, uncle to many, and cherished son, who left us too soon at the age of 46 on May 18, 2025. He was born November 1, 1978.

The family will host a Celebration of Life at Jeanette Barrett Civic Room in Wetumpka, Alabama, on Monday June 2, 2025 at 1 pm. This will be a joyous occasion with no black clothing allowed. Please bring you bright colored clothing and your stories of time with Joel. The service will be at 1 but we will stay after into the evening to continue to be in community. If you are unable to make it for the service, please still stop by when you are able.

Joel was Chief Design Electrical Engineer for North America in Charge of People Flow for Kone Elevators and Escalators. He was very well regarded in his field, always receiving accolade's. He received his Electrical Engineering Degree from University of Arkansas. Also it must be noted that he was a DIE HARD Kansas City CHEIFS fan.

Joel was a kind and happy person that brought light to every room he was in. He was a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew him, always ready with a smile and encouraging words. How he walked through his battle with cancer will forever change the lives of the people he loved.

Joel is survived by his beloved wife, Carrie Long; his loving mother, Kathleen Johnson; his brother/sisters, Josh Long, Shannon Ostdeik, and Danielle Long-Calentine along with a long list of nieces and nephews that will be forever changed by his loss.

He is preceded in death by his father, Clyde Long. The impact he made on our lives is immeasurable and he will be deeply missed.

Rest in peace, dear Joel Long. Your love and laughter will forever echo in our hearts.
