Karen Marie Abel

Karen Marie Abel was born on June 21, 1955 in Summit, New Jersey and was a resident of Eclectic, Alabama since 2002. She died at the age of 69 on April 29, 2025.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Abel; Gary's daughters, Davina Kraeger and Sharon Campo; Gary's grandchildren, Madeline Kraeger, Anna Belle Kraeger, Salvatore Campo, Penelope Campo, Michael Campo; her sisters, Joyce Anderson (Roger Corrigan) and Lois Anderson; nieces, Darya Tordi (David Tordi) and Elissa Huber-Sansom (Robert Sansom); nephew, Perry Abel (Beverly "Bev" Abel); her goddaughter, Jamie Lee Hunt; her best friend, Nancy Esposito and many cousins, close relatives in Sweden, extended family and dear friend.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Tore and Anne Anderson; brother, Kenneth Anderson (Kathy Huber); brother-in-law, Orville "Ozzie" Abel; sister-in-law, Norma Smith (Joe Smith) and many aunts and uncles and extended family.

Karen had a varied career in business and technology. She spent several years living in Roanoke, Virginia, working in the fiber optics industry in the 1980s. Later she worked as an assistant to her father, microwave engineer Tore Anderson, based in Connecticut, working on satellite technology for Antennas for Communications. Karen was an avid organic gardener throughout her life, a sailor and the author of a popular cookbook.

A gathering of friends and family will be held at Eclectic Methodist Church, Eclectic, Alabama on Monday, May 5, 2025, from 5-7 pm. Eclectic Methodist Church, Eclectic, Alabama, will be conducting a memorial service on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 2 pm with Brother Steve Spining officiating.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be memorial contributions to your favorite charity in Karen's memory.
