Mr. Lamar Scott, 85 of Tallassee, passed away April 18, 2016. He was born June 12, 1930.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held Friday, April 22, 2016 at 2:45 pm at Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo with Rev. David Floyd officiating, Linville Memorial Funeral Home directing.
Lamar served in the U. S. Air Force and retired as MSgt after 20 years of active service. He served overseas in Greenland, Guam, Japan, Africa (Libya), Germany and Panama, and was Communications Center Supervisor at Headquarters Air Force Systems Command, Andrews AFB, Washington, D.C. when he retired. Master Sergeant Scott was presented with the following awards and decorations: Air Force Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal with one (1) Bronze Service Star, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal with five (5) bronze loops, Air Force NCO Academy Ribbon, Air Force Good Conduct Medal and the Air Force Longevity Service Award with Three (3) Bronze Leaf Oak Clusters. Master Sergeant Scott was recognized for constantly displaying a high order of initiative, ability, resourcefulness and devotion to duty.
He is survived by wife, Katie Scott; daughter, Diane Sutcliffe; sons, Glenn Scott (Jackie) and Steven Scott (Ginny); and daughter-in-law, Frankie Scott. He is preceded in death by son, Walter Scott; and daughter, Beverly Evans.
