Larry Mitchell McGhar

Larry Mitchell McGhar, 77, of Notasulga, passed away March 14, 2026. He was born October 28, 1948.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 21, 2026 beginning at 1 pm followed by a memorial service at 2 pm conducted by First Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles McGhar and Evelyn Golden.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Toni McGhar; children, Casey McGhar, Kellie (Jess) Carter and Mitch McGhar; grandchildren, Asheton (Donavan) Freeman, Brittney (Dustin) Ashurst, Hunter Cook, Jackson Carter, London Carter and Addison Cook; great-grandchildren, Briggs Freeman and Gentry Freeman; brother, Ricky (Toni) Golden; nephews, Seth (Amber) Golden and Sage (Cayla) Golden; sister-in-law, Kitty Graham; nephews, Robin, Ryan and Will Graham; and lifelong friends, Greg and Beckey Warren, Anthony and Luanne Wright, Gerald Martin and Rick and Angel Hall.

Larry served in the Army National Guard from 1969 to 1974. He worked in the Facilities Division of Auburn University for 28 years and was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed hunting, skeet shooting and working on his farm.
