Leven was born on December 16, 1943, to Pastor J. Floyd Goree and Evelyn Ellis Goree, in Samantha, Alabama and passed away on July 2, 2026 in Franklin, North Carolina.

He was married for 63 years to Mary Curry Goree. He is survived by two children, Daphne Jones (Tom) and David Goree (Isabel); granddaughters Carrie Jones Zetterholm (Ryan) and Emily Goree. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jesse Goree and Gene Goree, and his grandson Blake Jones.

Leven graduated from Valley High School and Auburn University. He was an electrical engineer for Collins Radio, ECI, E-Systems, GE, & Raytheon. He was co-owner and President of National Communications Electronics Inc. for 20 years. He was an amateur radio operator for most of his life; an avid instrument rated private pilot; a longtime member of Seminole Baptist Church, and a new member of North Cliffe Church, after relocating from Redington Shores to Weeki Wachee, FL. He attended Cowee Baptist Church in Franklin, North Carolina, while spending summers in the mountains. He thoroughly enjoyed his bible study groups in both Florida and North Carolina.

Leven will be greatly missed by his family and countless members of his community. He will be remembered for his kindness, unrelenting generosity, and intellect. There will be a service at Elam Baptist Church, Tallassee, Alabama at 10 am, with visitation starting at 9.

Visitation will begin at 9 am with funeral service to follow at 10 am at Elam Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. Burial will follow in Elam Cemetery.
