Martha Jeanette Barrentine, age 71, of Tallassee, AL passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026 surrounded by family. Martha was born March 20, 1955 in Tuscaloosa, AL to David and Sara Barrentine.
As a proud 1973 graduate of THS, Martha went on to attend the University of Alablama and became a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. Most of her life was spent in Dallas, Texas working as an abstractor in property title research, which she continued to do from home after returning to Alabama. Martha loved fishing and listening to any type of music. Vestal Goodman was one of her favorite artists. While being an amazing person, sister and friend, her favorite role was being Aunt Martha to Ciji, Noah and Easton. Martha was a blessing to all who met her, quick with a smile and kind word or deed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Janie Hall and nephew Marshall Stough. She is survived by her brother Tom Barrentine, sister Miriam (Gary) Smith, and multiple extended family members and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, June 12, 2026 at Linville Memorial Chapel.
The family wishes to thank Kathi Tapley, Martha's roommate, sometime caregiver and lifelong friend for always being there for our precious Martha. We would also like to thank members of Community Hospice staff for their care, compassion and professionalism in her last days. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Martha's memory to Community Hospice, 1526 Gilmer Ave, Tallassee, AL 36078.
