Murlon "Wayne" Burkhalter, 70 passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him most. He was born on August 10, 1954.
Wayne was a man known for his tough exterior and his fiercely loving heart. He was quiet by nature and often a man of few words, but when he spoke, people listened. His words carried weight, his humor was sharp and unexpected, and his presence left a lasting impression.
Wayne had a special way about him; he didn't always say much, but you always knew where he stood. He was straightforward, honest, and deeply loyal. He had a dry wit that could catch you off guard and a sense of humor that made everyday life lighter for those around him.
He was married to the love of his life, Julie, for 50 wonderful years. Their relationship was built on mutual love, respect, and a lifetime of shared memories. Julie was truly the center of Wayne's world-his best friend, constant companion, and the one person who always understood him. Their bond was deep and enduring, and the love they shared was quiet but unshakable.
Wayne is survived by his devoted wife, Julie; his daughters, Keisha (Tommy Ray) and Kimberly (Christopher Golsan); and his grandchildren, Dylan (Kaylyn Ray), Ethan (Kyndel Ray), and Kade (Angie Burkhalter).
He was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, McKenzie Ray, who welcomed him into Heaven with open arms.
Wayne also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Paysyn Ray, Parker Ray, Hudson Ray, Kai Burkhalter, and Eli Burkhalter, each of whom brought him joy and pride.
He had a deep love for his dogs, who were always near his side. They gave him comfort, loyalty, and a quiet companionship that suited him perfectly. Though Wayne didn't always show his emotions outwardly, those who knew him best saw the love behind his actions. He showed up, stood firm in his values, and gave his love through the life he lived. Wayne will be remembered for his grit, his humor, his love for his family and animals, and the rare but powerful words he chose to share. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him
