Nicholas Steven Ledbetter

Nicholas Steven Ledbetter, age 33, lovingly known as "Nick" and to many as "Bama," passed away September 7, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, perseverance, and an unmistakable joy for life. He was born November 27, 1992.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at 2 pm at Linville Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Derek Gentle officiating.

Nick was a man who understood that life is not defined by the circumstances we are given, but by what we choose to do with them. Throughout his journey, he persevered through challenges with a strength that inspired those around him. His unwavering determination led him to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force, until he was medically discharged.

His military journey eventually carried him to California, where another chapter of his life began. With his natural ability to connect with people and his deep passion for music, Nick found his calling in karaoke. What began as a love for music and people grew into a career and a community of friends and family who came to know him as "Bama." Whether behind a microphone or simply sharing a conversation, Nick had a gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and loved.

Nick's greatest gifts were never measured by accomplishments or titles. They were found in the way he loved people. He had an enormous heart, a forgiving spirit, and a remarkable ability to find humor even in difficult moments. He loved making people laugh, and his joy was contagious. To know Nick was to know someone who could make an ordinary moment memorable simply by being himself.

Above all, Nick loved the Lord, his family, and his friends. His faith was an important part of who he was, and his life reflected a belief that people deserve grace, forgiveness, and another chance. He never allowed life's hardships to completely take away his ability to love, laugh, and hope.

Nick was preceded in death by his beloved great-grandmother, Ella Golden; grandmother, Marie Ledbetter; and uncle, James "Buddy" Ledbetter.

He leaves behind his mother, Wanda Ledbetter; and his aunt and uncle, Shelia and Len Hoyt, who lovingly stepped into the roles of mother and father and were a devoted source of love and support throughout his life. He also leaves behind his special family, Derek and Shelia Gentle, who devoted many years of love, care, and friendship to Nick and held a special place in his heart.

Nick will be deeply missed by his many cousins, who adored their "Nick," cherished his larger- than-life personality, and will forever carry the memories of his laughter, his stories, and his joy for life. Nick's life reminds us that our circumstances do not determine our future. Our legacy is found in the lives we touch, the people we love, the forgiveness we give, and the laughter we leave behind. And Nick left plenty of all four.

His voice may no longer be heard through a microphone, but the music of his life will continue in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him. Rest easy, Nick. Your song is not over-it simply continues in all of us who were blessed to know you.
