Paul "BoPete" Jones

Paul "BoPete" Jones, 72, of Tallassee departed this world peacefully after a short illness on August 22, 2026 surrounded by the love of his wife of 47 years and daughter. He was born December 12, 1953.

Ramsay Memorial Presbyterian Church will host a memorial service on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 11 am. Family will receive friends one hour before service beginning at 10 am.

BoPete brought profound light into his beloved community. He dearly loved taking neighborhood walks, attending car shows and just talking with his group of friends that helped support him in his final days.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Jones and daughter, Amanda (Jonathan) Floyd. He was a proud grandparent to Crystal (JoJo) Chandler, LeighAnn (Leo) DiCesaris, Jonathan (Britney) Floyd, Nikki (Flávio) Floyd-Martinez, David Ross II and Hunter (Lilly) Floyd. He is the proud great grandfather to 11 great-grandbabies. He was a very blessed man with the love of his family.

BoPete started working at Mt. Vernon mills from high school until they closed their doors. He could usually be found drinking coffee and talking to others for hours before his shift but when that whistle blew to end the day, he was headed home to his family.

His family was blessed by his unconditional love and support that has followed them from beginning to end. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, leaving a legacy behind in his wife, daughter and grandchildren. His legacy will live on in their memories and through many loved ones.

Our family extends infinite gratitude for the exceptional care that he received at Community Hospital Emergency Department, East Alabama Medical Center and the remarkable expression of love given to him and our family through Community Hospice. We thank everyone for your love, prayers, support, phone calls, food, and messages. Every kind act helped us greatly during this difficult time as our beloved departed this world to enter heaven with a new body free of pain and suffering.
