Perry "Don" Hathcock, age 65, passed away on March 2, 2026. He was born in Tallassee, Alabama on December 21, 1960.
Don was preceded in death by his loving wife of 32 years, Joy (nee Lockhart); his parents David "Edd" and Audie Mae "Granny" (nee Mann); and his brother David Hathcock.
He is survived by his children, Eddie (Stephanie) Hathcock, Skeeter (Amanda) Hathcock, Cindy (Simon) Graves and Perry "Danny" (Amber) Hathcock; eight grandchildren, Cade and Liam Hathcock, Brayden and Blake Hathcock, Madelyn and Nathan Graves, and Georgia and Savanna Hathcock; siblings, Anthony (Wendy) Hathcock and Angelo (Yolanda) Hathcock, and Jean (the late Lum) Morrison; a host of nieces and nephews; and his best friend of many decades, Ron (Gretchen) Kindrick.
Don has been a life-long resident and pillar of the community. As a young man, he served in the Army having been stationed in Germany before coming back to Tallassee and starting his family with Joy. Together they ran the Southern Auto and Glass Company for many years. Affectionately known as "Mr. Don" by many around town and on his street, he was a smiling face to many that encountered him. Don could be found in his garden, playing horseshoes, fixing electronics and tinkering around with mechanics, or drinking a Natty Light. He was a long time prominent member and official in the Alabama Horseshoe Pitchers Association (AHPA), competing in multiple World Tournaments.
Don was a warm and loving man, who was very loved by his family, friends, and community. He will be greatly missed by those who had the blessing to know him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 1pm at Linville Memorial Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 2pm. Burial will follow in the Mann Family Cemetery.
