Rex Allen Denham

On December 1, 2025, Rex Allen Denham of Wetumpka, Alabama, left this world for his heavenly home. Rex was a man marked by joy-always happy, positive, and full of life. He loved his Jesus, his family, and his friends with a deep and unwavering devotion.

Rex was born on March 19, 1945, in Pine Apple, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Maude Denham; his sisters, Judy Brown and Linda Hall; his brothers, Bobby, Bennett, John, and Cecil; and his beloved granddaughter, Loryn Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Thornell Denham; his children, Ashley Mims (Brian Fausnight) and Sergeant Major Chris Denham (Christy); and his grandchildren, Joey and Brody Denham, and Parker, Holly, and Anna Mims. He is also survived by his foster son, Barry Burger; devoted friends Molly and Calvin Nelson and Peggy McGraw; and his "adopted" sister, Areea Malone. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews from both the Denham and Thornell families, as well as his goddaughter, Leigh Nelson Ganchan.

Rex was retired from BellSouth and from the Alabama Army National Guard, where he served with honor in the 205th Engineers.

Visitation will begin at 11 am, Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Covenant Baptist Church in Millbrook, Alabama. Funeral service will follow at 12 pm with Rev. Jordan Nelson, Rev. Bryan Robbins and Rev. Willis Housley officiating. Burial will follow in Mt Hebron West Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his nephews. Honorary pallbearers will include retired BellSouth employees and members of the 205th Engineers of the Alabama Army National Guard.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Loryn "Lo" Brown Scholarship Fund at the University of Alabama (Attn: Lori Baggett, Assistant Manager Scholarship, PO Box 861928, Tuscaloosa, AL 35486).

The family extends a special thank-you to the Ivy Creek Hospice staff and volunteers for their remarkable care and compassion.
