Rodgers Guthrie Joiner

Mr. Rodgers Guthrie Joiner, 79, of Tallassee, passed away August 29, 2014 at The Harper Center in Tuscaloosa after a prolonged illness. He was born December 24, 1934.

Visitation will be Monday, September 1, 2014 from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm at Linville Memorial Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service at 2:30 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Faron Golden officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Linville Memorial Funeral Home directing.

He leaves his wife of 58 years, Sandra Toni Joiner; daughters, Amy Joiner and Leah Joiner Livingston; sons, David Joiner and Jonathon Joiner; grandchildren, Ashley Joiner Owens and Kyle Livingston; and great granddaughter, Carleigh Wilson-Joiner.

He is preceded in death by his father, Capers Lee Joiner; his mother, Trophy Lucille Joiner; brother, Wayne Joiner; and grandson, Gabe Livingston.

Born and raised in Tallassee, Mr. Joiner retired from the City of Tallassee and enjoyed hobbies of hunting and working on his farm in Tallapoosa County. He had a servant’s heart; he served his country in the Army National Guard for several years and also served on the Tallassee City Council. Rodgers and Toni attended Bethlehem East Baptist Church.
