Steven R. Dennis

Steve Dennis, 76, passed away the morning of January 11, 2026. He was born August 22, 1949 in Tallassee, AL.

Visitation will begin at 1 pm with funeral service to follow at 2 pm, Thursday, January 15, 2026 at First Baptist Church Tallassee. Bro. Trey Waldrop will be officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery.

Steve is preceded in death by his father, Reuben Dennis; and his beloved mother, Mary Kathryn Dennis. He is survived by his wife, Shelia Powell Dennis; daughter, Shan (Jonathan) Dorrill; two grandsons, Zachary and Dylan McCord; one great-granddaughter, Josie McCord; sisters, Rebecca (Dudley) Gregory, Jan (Ray) Miller and Vicky Lackey; and nephew Chris Lackey.

Steve retired after 40 years of service with the Army National Guard as a CW5, but he was a farmer at heart. He loved his country, Elmore County, and the community of Friendship.
