Vernon Motley

Mr. Vernon Motley, age 87, a resident of Eclectic, passed away September 14, 2012.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm at First Baptist Church, Eclectic, AL, where he was a member, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 pm with Rev. Britt Green officiating. Burial to follow at Bullard Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Ann Motley; daughter, Mary Ann Corliss (Regi); adopted son, Kenny Jones (Marie); grandchildren, Jason Taunton (Carter), Stephen Taunton (Mallory Miley), Janell Corliss Gay (Stuart), Andrea Jones and Vernon Jones; great-grandchildren, Blakely Taunton, Addison Gay and Ella Stuart Gay; five nieces, six great nieces and four great nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Connie Motley; mother, Ruth Motley; sister, Dorothy Reed and brother, James G. “Buzz” Motley.

Vernon served our country in the U. S. Army during World War II. He began a lifelong career as a printer in Akron, Ohio in the 1940’s and spent the last 16 years printing for First Baptist Church of Montgomery, doing what he loved, printing for the Lord. He taught Partners Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Eclectic. He served his Lord with faithfulness and his Christian example touched the hearts of all he met.
