Mr. Vernon W. Reynolds Sr., 92, of Red Hill, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 14, 2015 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 16, 1923 in Memphis, TN.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at Linville Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services Monday, May 18, 2015 at 11:00 am at Refuge Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Scarborough officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, Linville Memorial Funeral Home directing.
He is survived by his children, Cheryl Edmonds (Vernon), Vernon W. “Skip” Reynolds Jr., Robin Hardy (A.J.), Wesley Reynolds and Jan Smith (Paul); sister, Reba Monts; brothers-in-law Kenneth Young and Earl Coulter; sister-in-law Gloria Jean McMillian; grandchildren Nancy Caukin (Jack), Jim Reynolds, Emily Reynolds, Luke Reynolds, Cory Edmonds (Jill), Casey Bradley (Bryant), Drew Pinney and Amanda Smith; ten great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Millie Reynolds; parents Ernest Marvin and Alva Reynolds; and sisters Margaret Baxley and Ann Coulter.
Vernon served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged as Master Sergeant after 26 years. He also retired from the City of Montgomery in 1988 after fourteen years of service.
