December 31, 1969 — May 1, 2015
Mr. Waymon Edwin Benson, of Tallassee, passed away Friday, May 1, 2015. He was born in Tallassee, AL.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 3, 2015 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm followed by the funeral service at 3:00 pm at East Tallassee Church of Christ with Minister Michael McElroy officiating. Burial will follow at Carrville Cemetery, Linville Memorial Funeral Home officiating.
He is survived by his son, Kerry Benson (Janie Cowan); daughter, Linda Benson; son, Dwayne E. Benson; granddaughter, Beverly Ann "Anna" Benson. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Hogan Benson.
He was retired from Snowflake Dairi Bar in Tallassee. He wrote and recorded a record in 1955, from Nashville, Tennessee, “Lonesome Tavern Blues” and “My Heart’s One Desire.” His music has been enjoyed by many, as recently as this year.
